The German carmaker, Volkswagen will showcase its new entry-level SUV T-Cross concept, which is based on the platform of the best-selling and demandable hatchback Polo, at the next coming motor show in Geneva. Volkswagen’s SUV concept will be called as T-Cross, which will be high-riding vehicle features the SUV characteristics. The sources are to be described it as the sister model of the T-Roc concept that has been previewed by Volkswagen as the Golf-based prototype in last before the year. According to the reports, the two concepts including T-Roc and T-Cross will under production from 2017 and 2018 respectively.
Both models with the company’s concept-based designs will make a new SUV segment among the range of different categories. The T-Cross and T-Roc models are likely to be positioned below the company’s Tiguan and Touareg models, which will experience the SUV models with the highest growth in the market. Based on the highly flexible and integrated MQB platform of Volkswagen, the both cars are to be sketched with the choices of three kinds of diesel, hybrid and gas drivetrains with either front-wheel or all-wheel drive systems.
The T-Cross concept-based model will be one of the VW’s future models and rival the Nissan Juke and Mazda CX-3 cars after its launch. Being a Polo-based model, the concept will influence the Europe market as well as other markets and increase the SUV models range of the carmaker. The car is to be inherited some of the characteristics including the extensive style of exterior and the basic design features from the Cross Polo and the standard Polo hatchback.
The front of the T-Cross is likely to receive some of the elements like the full-width front grille, distinctive wheel arches, side window graphic and interiors from its sister model of T-Roc. With around 4,000mm of length, the VW T-Cross is to be offered and the model is smaller than the T-Roc sets to 4,200mm.
Coming to the naming strategy, the T-Cross and T-Roc have been received VW’s tradition and the name starting with T is refers to as the Tiguan and Touareg. In the Indian market, the new Tiguan SUV with the same modular platform is readying to launch at the Auto Expo 2016. The mechanical specification of the T-Cross SUV will not reveal by VW and receives the variety of engine options with transmissions for the international market.
