Volkswagen, the German-based company has been developing the new Polo with a sub-four-metre compact sedan layout to enter the global market with a new segment. The compact sedan based Polo has been spotted near to the NH-4 in India and the sources suggested the higher variants of a model will get the features like cruise control, 15-inch alloy wheels and steering mounted audio controls for the latest infotainment system.
The dual airbags for the front passenger and driver and the anti-lock braking system on the safety front and additional boot space for the comfortable travelling are the standard features received by the Volkswagen Polo. The remaining features, in terms of exterior appearance with body coloured bumpers and new headlights, interior accessories like well-fitted seats, design layouts, convenient and mechanical specifications will be identical to the existing Polo, which is one of the most popular hatchbacks in India.

It is likely to be somewhat different to the Indian-specific VW Vento, which has been introduced as Polo sedan in the South African and Argentina markets with the different mechanical specifications. The compact Polo sedan will come with the two kinds of engines such as a 1.2-litre MPI petrol engine features the three-cylinder and mated with the manual gearbox to develop the 89bhp and another one is 1.5-litre TDI diesel engine, which has been configured with a four-cylinder capacity to deliver 89bhp of maximum power to the wheels.
Here is no information whether the new compact Polo sedan is to get the GT petrol and diesel engines variants like the Indian-specific Polo. The GT petrol variant of Polo is powered by the 1.2-litre TSI engine developing 103bhp, 175Nm and 16.47kmpl with 7-speed DSG automatic transmission.
The Polo compact sedan will compete with the existing popular sedans including Hyundai Xcent, Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Ford Figo Aspire and Honda Amaze. Along with the VW Ameo (compact sedan) and Tiguan, the small Polo sedan is probably to attend the 2016 Auto Expo, which will be started in the first week of February 2016. The car will hit the domestic market in the mid months of next year.
