Volkswagen has launched the new generation Beetle in the Indian market and now the German auto giant plans to introduce the Beetle facelift in the country. The current generation models came to India via the CBU route and priced at Rs. 28.73lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi). The VW Beetle facelift will come to India in 2017, but the exact period is yet to be revealed. The industry expected that the Beetle facelift will most probably launch in the fourth quarter of the next year.
The Volkswagen Beetle is manufactured in the Mexican market and to be reached the Indian market soon. Volkswagen India sold around 500 units of the previous generation Beetle models, but it didn’t get the same amount of sales from the current generation model. Based on the reports, the German carmaker sold 175 units since its launch to till the last month in India.
With these of reasons, the company is planning to introduce the new facelift of the VW Beetle in India with the cosmetic changes. The Beetle will get the new face and legendary shape in the Volkswagen family compared to the other models. The car will offer with the same 1.4-litre TSI petrol engine that sends the power of 147bhp to the wheels with the 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox.
The new VW car will come to India via the CBU route to compete with the BMW 1-Series, Mercedes A-Class and Fiat 500 Abarth. Besides, the two biggest models, Volkswagen Tiguan and VW Passat come to India soon.
