Suzuki has introduced the many new concepts at the Tokyo Motor Show, 2015 in which Suzuki Alto Works, which is the advanced sportier version of the JDM-specific Alto car. Another concept is the Suzuki Escudo, known as Suzuki Vitara in India has showcased by Suzuki at the same Tokyo show.
Suzuki Alto Works:
The Alto Works model gets the renovated mechanicals to boost up the vehicle’s performance and the new design cues than the standard Alto car. The 660cc displacement of three-cylinder engine to be powered the Alto Works to generate 51bhp of power and 63Nm of torque. The short-throw 5-speed manual transmission gives the energy to deliver the power to the wheels thereby claim the high economy.
The little hatchback, Alto Works gets the huge external cosmetic package including the special alloy wheels, new brake callipers, the latest foglamps, the large air dam, chrome bezels, side decals, the new headlamps and badges. It is to be different from the standard one, so the car gets the new inside changes, such as leather-wrapped steering wheel, the new Recaro seats, new instrument cluster and the cabin with red contrast stitching. Moreover, the standard one has air conditioner and the touch screen system and this car seems to be getting the same and the new package of safety and entertainment features.
Suzuki Escudo (Vitara):
The JDM-specific Suzuki Escudo had its debut at the ongoing Tokyo show, 2015 whereas its global-specific Suzuki Vitara has unveiled by the Japanese carmaker at the Paris Motor Show 2014. The Suzuki Escudo is new generation model, based on the iV-4 concept of Suzuki, measuring 4,175mm length, 1775mm width, 1610mm height and the 2500mm of strong wheelbase. The same exterior dimensions measured by the global product Suzuki Vitara but, there is difference in terms of mechanical parts and features between the two models.
The Suzuki Escudo is to be powered by the M16A four-cylinder, 1.6-litre petrol engine that delivers 115hp (86kW/117PS) of power and 151Nm of torque with a 6-speed AMT gearbox. The four-wheel and front-wheel drivetrain configurations are available in this Suzuki Escudo to return 17.4kmpl and 18.2kmpl respectively.
The upcoming Suzuki Vitara would be available in both petrol and diesel versions. The D16AA turbo, 1.6-litre diesel engine generates 115hp (88kW/117PS) of power and the torque 320Nm that is higher than (156Nm) the JDM-specific petrol model of Suzuki Escudo. The diesel model of Suzuki Vitara will get the 6-speed manual AMT whereas the petrol models are available with either 6-speed AMT or 5-speed MT. The Suzuki Escudo’s petrol engine expected to be powered the global version, Suzuki Vitara.
A package of features to be available in the JDM-specific model is the automatic headlights, 17-inch aluminium wheels, the heated door mirrors that are absent in 4WD model, auto-dimming mirror for rear view, LED headlamps, keyless start system, etc. The design of the car is to be perfect at the comfort, safety, convenience and entrainment than the current models. The automatic AC, leather seat upholstery, tilt& telescopic steering, the infotainment system with touch compatibility and the leather-wrapped steering wheel are likely to be get by the Suzuki Escudo as well as its global version is the Suzuki Vitara.
