The list of top 10 best-selling cars is again highlighted by the biggest Indian company, Maruti Suzuki in January 2016 with the models Alto, Dzire, Swift, Wagon R, Baleno and Celerio. Out of these six models, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno is the new premium hatchback enters the list with sales of 7,698 units in the last month. The first four cars in the list from the Indian carmaker and the Alto small car comes in at 1st place in the list of top-ten best-selling cars with the sales of 21,462units. The second, third and fourth positions obtained by the Swift Dzire with 17,587 units, Swift hatchback with 14,057 units and Wagon R with 12,744 units respectively.
Hyundai’s two models Grand i10 and Elite i20 have occupied fifth and sixth positions in the list of high-selling cars. The seventh position engaged by the Honda City with the sales of 8,037 units in the previous month. Again, the Maruti cars including Baleno and Celerio got the eighth and ninth positions correspondingly. The Hyundai Creta is the popular SUV paced the 10th position and the model gets competition from the Mahindra TUV 300 and Maruti S-Cross.
With the entry of Baleno, the sales of Hyundai Elite i20 in November and December of 2015 were low. But, the Elite i20 has a great comeback in the last month and overtaken its competitor Baleno.

Passenger Car Sales in India Fell in January 2016: SIAM
But, the overall passenger car sales in the domestic market declined in the last month for the first time since last 15 months. According to the report from the SIAM (Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers), the domestic passenger car market has a marginal dip with 1,68,303 units in the last month against 1,69,527 units in January 2015.
The Indian car leader, Maruti Suzuki has declined 1.4 percent with 87,757 units of passenger cars in the last month against 89,104 units during the same month of last year. Like the earlier months, the overall domestic sales of Maruti Suzuki during the last month increased 1% to 1,06,383 units.
The total sales of commercial vehicles including LCVs and M&HCVs increased to 17.53 percent with 61,683 units in the last month. Similarly, the sales of two-wheelers increased to 2.63 percent in January 2016 with 13,62,881 units, according to the SIAM.
