The homegrown utility vehicle maker, Mahindra has been confirmed that the XUV 500 automatic and TUV 300 models will introduce in the South African market by October 2016. The information is directly announced by Sajoy Gupta, CEO of Mahindra South Africa to the CAR magazine. As per the information, the XUV 500 automatic versions will launch in South Africa as soon as possible, but the Mahindra TUV 300 compact SUV will introduce in September or October 2016. In the domestic market, the compact SUV (TUV 300) positioned below the Scorpio, the best-selling car in the SUV segment. The TUV 300 is expected to be positioned between the Scorpio and XUV 500 in South Africa.
In India, the XUV 500 automatic is offered in two types of diesel engines, the 1.99-litre mHawk engine is rated at the maximum power of 138.07hp (103 kW) and the torque of 320Nm. Another one is the 2.2-litre mHawk engine capable of producing 103 kW power and 330Nm torque. But, the automatic versions of the popular SUV (XUV 500) are to be offered in South Africa with the AISIN-sourced 6-speed automatic gearbox.
The compact SUV, Mahindra TUV 300 will be offered with the same 1.5-litre mHawk engine that develops the maximum power of 82.44hp in the manual versions and 79.09hp in the AMT variants. The high-end mHawk100 variant will have a capacity to produce98.53bhp with the transmission choices of 5-speed autoSHIFT and 5-speed manual transmissions.
Both models have recognised by the Indian customers as of the SUV architecture, design and performance. The company expected that the two models will also have the highest demand in the South African market. Mahindra TUV 300 is one of the best AMTs in India offered at the reasonable price to target the similar products.
Mahindra is expanding its export market year-on-year with the Indian-bound models, KUV 100, Reva e2o, XUV 500, TUV 300, as well. In the last month, Mahindra’s export sales increased to 4,153units and represented a growth of 14 percent compared to the year-ago month sales, 3565 units. Mahindra’s export market share will be raised in the coming months with the XUV 500 automatic and TUV 300 launches in South Africa.
