Mahindra’s executive director, Pawan Goenka announced that the petrol variants of the popular cars, XUV 500 and Scorpio will be launched in the Indian market in this year. Now, the Mahindra KUV 100 is only offered with the petrol versions, which are available with the performance efficient 1.2L G80 engine from the mFalcon family. The company has released these two SUVs with the downsized engines in the Delhi region without losing the vehicle’s performance.
The Scorpio and XUV 500 model affected by the SC’s order – registration ban on over 2000cc diesel vehicles in Delhi. To overcome this disorder, Mahindra Scorpio and XUV 500 introduced by the 1997cc (1.99-litre) diesel engine. The small diesel engine rated at the maximum outputs of 120hp and 280Nm in the Mahindra Scorpio and 140hp and 320Nm in the XUV 500.

The earlier reports indicated that the utility vehicle major is investing a total of Rs. 1000 crore to develop the new petrol engines for the upcoming products in the next two to three years. The 1.5-litre, 1.6-litre and 2.2-litre petrol engines to be developed by Mahindra with the association of SsangYong Motor. Moreover, Mahindra’s upcoming cars will launch with two fuel types of engines.
