The domestic manufacturer, Mahindra is all set to introduce its new products in both commercial and passenger vehicle segments in the next year. The Mahindra Imperio is the premium SCV (Small Commercial Vehicle) expected to be launched on 6th January 2016. It is the first and premium pickup truck from Mahindra in the next year for the domestic market. The Mahindra Imperio, will be the brand name of Genio Facelift, is the updated version of the existed Mahindra Genio. The auto manufacturer has committed the eight product launches for the financial year 2015-16 and the Imperio, an upcoming pickup truck is one of them.
To offer the first-class commercial vehicle experience to the customers, Mahindra & Mahindra has been designed the Imperio by receiving the essential features, in terms of performance, style and driving comfort, from the utility vehicles. The design of the upcoming SCV is somewhat different, particularly the front-end, from the outgoing small commercial trucks including Jeeto, Maxximo Plus, Supro, Supro Maxitruck, Bolero pick-up and as well. The new small commercial truck comes with the newly designed front that features the toothed-grille surrounded by circular foglights and sleeker headlights.
According to the team at Mahindra, the new Imperio is to provide the wide range experience as well as meet all requirements of the expanding commercial business. There is no proof but, the industry estimated the Imperio is to get the two driving modes from recently introduced Mahindra Maxximo Plus, Eco mode for better fuel efficiency and Power mode will ensure driving for maximum power.
Like the Mahindra small trucks featured by the latest engine technology, the upcoming small truck is to be powered by the 2.5-litre mDi CRDe diesel motor. The engine is to be paired with the 5-speed manual gearbox and three-cylinder options to generate 75bhp power and 220Nm torque.
The teaser of the stylish and premium Imperio has been released by Mahindra whereas the model has been spotted with the covered and uncovered exterior in the country. The spied images indicated that the side profile and the interior (new centre console, instrument cluster, steering wheel) get the new design style cues whereas the rear look is identical to the existed one.
For the Australian and African markets, the Imperio is expected to be powered by the 2.2-litre mHawk engine and come with the 4x4 arrangement. The 4x2 arrangement is to be offered by Mahindra for the Indian market and the model will fight the Isuzu D-Max after its launch in the country.
