The SUV major Mahindra & Mahindra is all set to launch its electric car E20 in the UK via the online route, according to the news from ET Auto. This significant news directly announced by Mahindra’s senior executive and also Mahindra Reva CEO, Arvind Mathew said that the Mahindra E20 electric car will be launched at the around price from £13,000 to £16,000 (Rs. 12lakh to 15lakh). To sell the electric cars in the Europe’s highest electric vehicle market, Mahindra will implement the total digital process.
The earlier reports recommended that Mahindra Reva has estimated to invest more than Rs. 100crore for the electric car projects. MREV (Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles) has the production capacity of around 30,000 electric vehicles per a year at the company’s manufacturing facility in Bangalore. We at Mahindra decided to implement the complete digital survey instead of dealerships to target the prospective buyers in the UK. With our new digital sales process, the UK customers will book, test drive, as well through their mobiles or laptops.
Being an Indian manufacturing company, Mahindra is expected to be the first company to adopt the online selling process in the UK. Telsa, American electric car major follows the same process to sell its electric cars in that the largest European EV market.
In the UK, almost 10,000 units of electric vehicles sold by the companies so that the market has been maintaining the 50 to 60 percent share from over the last three to four years. The four-door electric car is expected to enter the UK with the most premium equipment to meet the European standards. The electric motor used in the UK-specific Mahindra e20 is standard with the three-year warranty. Moreover, the optional feature is the battery lifetime will be extended to two extra years.
The two-door Mahindra e20 available in the Indian market is integrated with the high-performance electric motor, which produces 19kW or 25.47bhp of power and 53.9Nm of torque. The electric car is to hit the top speed at 81km/h with the maximum range of 120km with the help of an electric stability program, tyre pressure monitoring system and anti-lock braking system.
The same dimensions of the Indian-specific model will be carried, 3280mm in length, 1514mm in width, 1560mm in height, with the same wheelbase of 1958mm. But, the UK-specific E20 weight is expected to be increased than the outgoing one, which weighs 830kg kerb weight.
Mahindra’s range in the EV (Electric Vehicle) market is likely to be enhanced with the launch of E20 in the UK market, according to the company. Besides, the E20 vehicle has already launched in the Nepal market and it is priced at Rs. 2.25million. MREV will have double improvement in terms of sales than the last year sales of 550 units so that Mahindra’s familiarity will increase in the international market.
